- A Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting Degree
- Completed articles
- A minimum of 3 years previous experience as an Accountant in a commercial environment
- Solid understanding of statutory requirements, e.g. VAT, imports, exports
- Strong knowledge of computer software packages and MS Office; be able to process large data
- Preference to Kerridge/ k8 system
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will be an Assistant to the regional (PA)
- Ensure that all accounting policies/admin, and internal control systems are properly adhered to
- Assist the Regional and Branch Management with all accounting/admin functions
- Prepare monthly financial statements and interpretation thereof
- Prepare monthly management reports
- Prepare general ledger reconciliations
- Manage and supervise the debtors, creditors and cashbook departments to ensure alignment of tasks and their performance overall
- Train accounting staff at Branch and Regional level
- Authorize and process journals
- Review and authorize reconciliations and payments
- Interpret and write financial reports once month end results are completed
- Prepare quarterly board packs
- Prepare annual budgets
- Monitor performance against budgets and continually re-evaluating forecasts - Get involved in the financial side of operations
- Ensure that official records are accurately and timeously maintained
- Manage preservation and safe custody of company assets and ensure financial information remains confidential
- Liaise with Internal Audit, Salaries, Legal, Human Resources, Transport and IT Departments at Head Office
- Site visits to branches within the region

- Must have previous managerial experience in accounting and admin
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external parties

- Stress tolerance; ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Be prepared to work overtime
- Time management skills; ability to manage own time and being able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Have good communication skills both written and verbal
- Work effectively in a team
- Articulate and presentable
