Description

Under the direction of the Director of Finance and line managing the Finance Business Partner, the role of Senior Business Finance Partner is to provide a full business partnering, management accounting service in accordance with the organisations values.

  • To assist the Director of Finance in the strategic and day-to-day activities of the Finance Department, and to deputise for the Director when required.
  • The delivery of a Finance Business Partnering service to Directors and senior operational managers of the organisation. This will involve the establishment of good relationship-based working and involvement with the Executive Teams across the organisations sites and services.
  • Take a leading role in challenging and enhancing internal financial processes to ensure the organisation delivers relevant, accurate and timely information in support of the strategic aims and in compliance with legal responsibilities.
  • Line management of the Finance Business Partner, including undertaking regular reviews and appraisals, return to work interviews and other day-to-day management and support.
    • Contributing to the management and implementation of ICT projects where such projects interface with the financial processes of the organisation.
    • As a member of the Finance Department Management Team, to promote and develop the activities of the department to support the delivery of the strategic goals and financial targets.
    • Advise the Directors and managers on matters of financial performance and financial control.

    • Promote the establishment of a financial, operational-based accountability and forecasting framework within directorates, to ensure that local responsibility and decision-making is appropriate to the delivery of plans and strategic goals.

  • Provide and advise on a comprehensive range of KPI's, financial advice, reports, training and general support to operational managers promoting the delivery of efficient services that facilitate the achievement of strategic goals and financial targets.
  • Support operational managers in the use financial information to support their decision making.

  • Develop with the operational teams their annual budgetary proposals and a robust interim forecasting process.

Profile

The ideal candidate for the Senior Finance Business Partnering position:

  • CCAB professional accounting qualification
  • Educated to or beyond degree level (or equivalent)
  • Career experience:

  • Expert knowledge and experience as trusted advisor in financial and accounting policies, legislation and best practice
  • Experience of working within an accounting environment for a medium sized organisation
  • Experience of developing, producing and presenting income and expenditure reports to senior managers and customers
  • Direct line management experience (desirable)
  • Knowledge:

  • The principles and practices of operating and developing an integrated accounting system
  • Principles of good accounting and book keeping
  • Office IT and accounting systems

    On offer for the Senior Finance Business Partnering position:

    • Annual salary of £43-45,000 FTE (pro rated down to 0.6 FTE)
