POSITION SUMMARY

The Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for a variety of monthly accounting functions relating to Alterra Mountain Company including coordinating and executing fixed asset processes and performing advanced accounting tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

General Responsibilities
Provide specialist support and advice to management in relation to the development and maintenance of fixed asset accounting processes, asset management systems, and fixed asset registers.
Enters newly created assets, maintains, and disposes existing assets to GL and the FA system.
Monitor Fixed Asset inbox for various location requests including project creation, budget revisions, project close forms.
Management of fixed asset accounting activities including the processing of all accounting entries associated with acquisition, capitalization, disposal, impairment, revaluation, and depreciation of fixed assets in compliance with the capital policy and procedures at Alterra Mountain Company.
Conduct/coordinate physical inventory audits of fixed assets.
Reconciles all asset accounts on GL to FA system totals monthly; investigates and resolves variances on a timely basis. Communicates to management effectively.
Prepare for and assist in the execution of internal and external audits by preparing fixed asset roll forwards, CIP reconciliations, and various other audit requests.
Proactively identify risks and opportunities for improvements within Fixed Assets processes and recommend solutions.
Analyze transaction detail to ensure that capital expenditure entries meet established criteria that is in accordance with the Alterra Mountain Company capital policy.
Assist team members in resolving month-end close related issues as they arise and escalate issues as necessary to management.
Communicate effectively with a large and diverse accounting team.
Take initiative to investigate reconciling items, or discrepancies and contact the appropriate individuals to gather information to propose and implement solutions.
Document and ensure that effective internal controls are developed and performed, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements.
Perform variance analyses, identify, and resolve unusual variances through investigation and communication with resort personnel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge
Must possess an in-depth working knowledge of GAAP, month-end close processes, general and operational accounting, budgeting, and forecasting, and financial reporting.
Intermediate experience working with fixed assets
Proficient with ERP systems
Working knowledge of D365 and OneStream a plus

Skills & Abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to effectively interact with all levels throughout the organization.
Success at building relationships and collaborating cross-functionally across the organization
High attention to detail and accuracy, and able to work under minimal supervision.
Proven ability to independently resolve issues and recommend process improvements.
Team player that will approach challenges in a high-pressure environment with enthusiasm.
Intermediate to Advanced Excel required.

Education & Experience
4-year degree required; advanced degree preferred

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.'s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Denver area base salary range: $57,000 - $84,000 per year
