As part of a newly formed Finance Operations team you will be responsible for leading all aspects of Finance Operations for the UK Insurance business. This is an exciting time to join the business as it is set to go through a new phase of growth.

You will initially manage 2 direct reports with a wider indirect team of c.12, within transactional/operational finance. The role will be focused on business as usual as well as driving key finance transformation projects across the business, working extensively with project teams and senior leadership.

Accountabilities
  • Managing, supporting, and developing the finance operations team ensuring workload has been delegated, improving the productivity of the team, and handling any issues in a timely manner
  • Ensure all processes meet SLAs, enabling the close and timely payments to suppliers
  • Working with the Finance transformation manager, drive continuous improvement and automation of manual processes partnering closely with the Finance Transformation, Product and Technology teams
  • Driving change across the finance operations team including managing additional wider transformation projects including a new claims system.
  • Finance lead for the roll out of a new end to end Purchase to Pay process across the business.
  • Responsibility for reviewing BACS payment runs and working as a key point of contact for escalation in the Purchase Ledger team
  • Responsibility for reviewing daily Bank reconciliations and working as a key point of contact for escalation in the Bank rec team.
  • Responsibility for escalating risks appropriately.
  • Provide SME input and oversight on risks and controls for material change projects impacting Finance operations.
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, controls and efficiency
  • Support the external audit process
  • Providing general support and completing ad-hoc tasks as required by the CFO and Financial Controller

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will have proven experience leading a finance operations team within a large corporate business. We have a preference that you have experience in the insurance / financial services sector but this is not mandatory. You must be a confident leader, with several years of experience leading finance teams, delivering process improvements, and managing change.

Other experience required:
  • Accounting / Finance qualification required
  • People-focused, with proven ability to build collaborative teams; develop people; and link performance to overall business objectives
  • Experience of building and managing teams of 10+ people
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organisation
  • You love data, being able to use it effectively to drive the requirements of the role across all teams
  • A passion for problem solving, whether that is reconciliation issues or data integrity
  • A track record of delivery of process improvements and automation of manual processes.
