About the role

This is an integral role in the Finance Team, leading the delivery of technical accounting advice and activities for the business. This role requires experience in the application of NZIFRS accounting standards (including but not limited to lease and intangible asset treatment) through an ERP system in a complex corporate organisation. The Financial Accountant role is responsible for running the accounting and financial activities of Connetics by analysing and reporting on costs, productivity, margins and company expenditures. This role leads the annual financial accounting, month end processing, as well as providing some management accounting support to the business.

Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Overseeing all activities relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control
  • Preparing and distributing the monthly accounts to relevant stakeholders with financial commentary for the Board
  • Preparation of the annual statutory accounts and coordination of external audits
  • Balance Sheet and General Ledger maintenance
  • Financial reporting and revenue/expense analysis
  • Tax accounting activities
  • Maintaining and developing financial policies, procedures, and systems
  • Banking relationship activities

This role is based in the Christchurch Office.

Skills /Experience

Essential
  • Chartered Accountant
  • B.Com (Accounting) or 5 years equivalent experience
  • Advanced spreadsheeting and word processing skills
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and relevant legislation
  • Demonstrates a practical knowledge and understanding of all accounting and processing systems
  • Demonstrates a high regard for work efficiency, integrity and delivery
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Desirable
  • Senior Accounting experience in medium to big business environment
  • Supervisory/Management experience
  • Experience using SAP or a similar finance ERP system
