The Vacancy

Part of the Finance Business Partnering team, reporting into the Management Accountant you will provide accounting support the Rent and Service Charge team (month and year end). You will have an enquiring mind analysing data at a granular level; cutting it different ways to sense check and ensure it is accurate. Your natural curiosity will have you investigating anomalies, producing Service Charges monthly report and communicating with relevant stakeholders to ascertain a true picture of costs, charges and their origin and rectifying where necessary to produce clear and accurate accounts.

Other duties include:

Review financial management information alongside the Management Accountant on a regular basis, identifying and reporting matters of likely current or future concern to the Head of Business Partnering as soon as these are known.
Liaise with the Finance Business Partners to review monthly management accounts, correcting any identified errors and agreeing action plans to rectify these where possible.
Under the direction of the MA ensure that the monthly trial balance is properly prepared and monthly financial statements are produced in a timely fashion.
Prepare and post nominal ledger adjustments, including but not limited to accruals, prepayments and apportionments.
Act as a driver of Value for Money across the organisation
Assist in the annual production of financial statements supporting the Financial Accounting team with project management of the deliverables for the external auditors.
Assist the Management Accountant with the maintenance of the coding structure, including new cost codes and validations. Provide support as required making the most of the functionality within the system.

Our ideal candidate will be/have:

Service Charge experience is essential
You’ll likely be part qualified (ACA, CA, ACCA. IPFA, CIMA) and may be working towards completing your qualification, alternatively you could be over-qualified and looking for less senior role with less responsibility.
Technical competence and experience in all aspects of statutory, financial and management accounting including the preparation of year end and quarterly accounts, budgets and management reports and statutory returns.
Strong technical skills in Excel & demonstrable skills in accounting systems
Good communication skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders
Accuracy with attention to detail
Thorough understanding of current accounting practices and best practice standards within the sector
Knowledge of Sun (accounting) system preferred.
