Job Summary

The Home Loans Head of Value Management is responsible for overseeing and managing the value management function within a Home Loans Business Unit.

This role involves analyzing the profitability, and risk associated with home loans products and portfolios. The Home Loans Head of Value Management plays a critical role in optimizing the value of the home loans business by identifying opportunities for growth, improving profitability, setting the risk appetite, developing pricing strategies, monitoring risk and implementing other action to manage the overall performance of the business.

As a member of the Home Loans executive committee (ExCo) this role is a senior member of the Home Loans executive management team.

Key Responsibilities:

Value Management Strategy:
  • Develop and execute the value management strategy / financial plan for the home loans business, aligning it with the overall objectives and goals of the business unit.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of the home loans portfolio to identify areas for improvement, growth opportunities, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop pricing strategies the ensures that business meets its strategic, finical and risk appetite aspirations.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including sales, risk management; finance, and product teams, to develop and implement value-enhancing initiatives.

Portfolio Performance Monitoring:
  • Monitor the performance of the home loans portfolio, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), such as pricing, margin, balance sheet growth, capital utilization, delinquency rates, default rates, and prepayment rates.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess the quality of assets, identify trends, and recommend actions to mitigate risks and enhance performance.
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to generate insights and actionable recommendations for portfolio optimization.
  • Create mandates structure for price appeals and large transaction overrides

Profitability Analysis:
  • Analyze the profitability of home loans business and portfolios, assessing revenue generation, capital utilization, costs, and associated risks.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement, risk reduction, cost optimization, and process efficiencies to improve overall profitability.

Risk Management:
  • Assess and monitor risks associated with the home loans portfolio, including credit risk, interest rate risk, and market risk.
  • Develop the risk appetite and portfolio diversification to maintain a balanced risk profile
  • Challenge underwriting standards in order to improve profitability and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with the risk management team to develop risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Business Planning and Forecasting:
  • Contribute to the development of the annual business plan and budget for the home loans department, providing insights and recommendations based on value management analysis.
  • Forecast and monitor key financial metrics, such as loan volumes, capital utilization, loan margins and profitability to support strategic decision-making.
  • Challenge forecasting of credit losses against trends and economic outlook.
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis and scenario planning to assess the impact of external factors, market conditions, and regulatory changes on the home loans business.
  • Collaborate and challenge the risk management team to run required stress testing.

Financial modeling
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate pricing strategies, product profitability, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Develop and maintain acquisition scorecards strategies, product profitability, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Develop and maintain financial models to forecast key financial metrics, such as loan volumes, capital utilization, loan margins and profitability to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain other financial models used in decisions making.
  • Challenge the appropriateness and development of capital and impairment models.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, statistics, economics, business administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.

Proven experience in value management, financial analysis, and portfolio optimization within the home loans or mortgage industry.

In-depth knowledge of home loans products, pricing models, profitability analysis, and risk management principles.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and develop actionable insights.

Proficiency in using financial modeling tools, data analytics software, and reporting platforms.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and lead cross-functional teams.

Education

Bachelors Degree and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
