SRM are currently recruiting for a Tax Manager - VAT to join our finance team at our Head Office at Hemel Hempstead on a part time basis working 3 days per week.

The role:

The Tax Manager - VAT will be responsible for VAT compliance and governance throughout SRM and lead the following disciplines:
  • VAT compliance across all areas of the business
  • VAT Planning both at a strategic and operational level
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships on all VAT issues with our HMRC CCM
  • Preparation of VAT Returns for SRM & Pension Scheme
  • Working with the Head of Tax on the overall Group tax strategy

Primary:
  • Deliver a full range of VAT services in compliance with laws and regulations within timeframe;
  • Prepare the Group VAT return
  • Prepare VAT returns for AMEY/SRM JV, IHP JV and 2 x Pension schemes
  • Prepare all other VAT paperwork require for the SRM business to be VAT compliant e.g. VAT error notices
  • Provide VAT advice to finance team;
  • Provide VAT advice to the wider business including commercial teams
  • Provide key Strategic VAT planning;
  • Provide innovative VAT planning
  • Compile and present quarterly reporting;
  • Manage VAT provision and VAT compliance process;
  • Identify and mitigates VAT risks;

Secondary:
  • Ad hoc projects as and when they arise to deliver change, improve processes, both financial and operational, driving efficiency and best practice throughout the business


Your profile:

You will:
  • Be a qualified accountant with +5 years PQE with strong tax, technical accounting and extensive VAT skills/experience
  • Have experience of managing the VAT affairs of a substantial UK Group
  • Have construction & contract VAT knowledge and background desirable
  • Have excellent communication skills who can communicate at all levels and who can present ideas effectively
  • Have demonstrated proven success in delivering change, including policy, process, and system improvement.
  • Be able to manage competing demands, adaptable, hands-on and detail orientated as well as contributing to the strategic development of the business
