Your new company
Hays are delighted to be supporting one of our Public Sector clients as part of an ERP implementation as they recruit for a Systems Accountant. Working on a 12 month contract basis, this role will be a central figure in supporting key activities as part of the transformation programme and will sit as part of the finance and projects team.

Our client are a flexible and adaptable business offering a 35 hour working week, 7% employer pension and generous holiday entitlement as part of the package. There is also the potential of extension or permanent opportunities as part of the wider finance team. You will be offered a salary of up to £40,000 per annum with associated benefits and a hybrid working model, usually 2 days office working.

This is an exciting project opportunity giving an aspiring systems accounting professional the opportunity to develop their career in collaborative environment that will encompass systems oversight across Finance, Procurement, Planning, HR, Payroll and CRM.

Whilst systems accounting experience is preferred, our client will also consider applicants who have a desire to develop experience in this are providing they hold other relevant experience.

Your new role
The Systems Support Accountant will work within a dedicated team of 5 and will be specifically assigned to smooth running of the implementation. Tasks will involve data migration, systems integration testing, UAT and user training at key stages. You will also be involved in Validation of reporting, detailed reconciliations and planning activities to achieve key milestones.

The Systems support accountant will contribute to the creation of business readiness plans, taking into consideration IT deployment, data migration, capability deployment (training and engagement activities) and any business activities required to integrate new processes or jobs into the 'business as usual' environment.

The remit of this role will cover AP, AR, cash and banking and all elements of transactional aswell as general ledger data migration so experience of these processes is essential to understand how business processes should be shaped. You will Draft policy, standards and procedures and system business rules guiding on best practice and offer insight and guidance to support the development of the financial system.

What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will have been part of a similar project systems implementation with the ability to maintain and develop financial aspects of financial and information systems. Experience of oracle would also be highly beneficial but non-essential. Essential parts of the role are understanding processes involved across the end-end finance function with strong analysis experience and systems awareness.

They systems accountant requires a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills to engage, build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including technical specialist.
