About the Role
The accountant will monitor, prepare and maintain financial information, and reporting in accordance with best practice. The accountant is responsible for supporting senior accountants and members of the shared service team with accounting duties including monitoring transactions, resolving queries and assisting with analysis.
This role sits within the Shared Services Function. The role includes payroll accounting across a range of Datacom companies within the Datacom group, both locally and internationally.

About the Role
The accountant will monitor, prepare and maintain financial information, and reporting in accordance with best practice. The accountant is responsible for supporting senior accountants and members of the shared service team with accounting duties including monitoring transactions, resolving queries and assisting with analysis.
This role sits within the Shared Services Function. The role includes payroll accounting across a range of Datacom companies within the Datacom group, both locally and internationally.
- Assisting in the generation of general ledger transactions and subsequent related adjustments relating to the Payroll function
- Supporting monthly activities including balance sheet reconciliations related to the Payroll function
- Supporting the analysis and review of financial information for discrepancies and variances
- Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures including initiating any actions to reduce write offs and improve efficiencies
- Assisting audit preparations and year end activities
- Supporting the preparation of accounting records and financial reports as per Datacom standards
- Ensuring all accounting tasks are completed within the set timeframe and any issues addressed as they arise
- Liaising with the broader team to ensure that all reporting standards are appropriately embedded into relevant finance processes.
- Performing other accounting duties and supporting the broader team as required or assigned
- Supporting in the design and implementation of effective and appropriate financial controls
- Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy
What you'll bring
- Excellent technical accounting ability
- Advanced Excel skills are required
- Working knowledge of Oracle or a similar sized ERP system
- Experience working either within Datacom or for a similar sized organisation
- Professional qualification, either CA or CPA, or currently actively working towards qualification.
