The purpose of this position is to provide responsive and focused Payroll processing and information services, thereby contributing to the achievement of the organisations goals, values, and desired culture. The Payroll Officer will have an important role in inputting information, providing support and advice to colleagues regarding the use of the system and its various components as these are rolled out across Ara. The focus of the position will be primarily on ensuring that colleagues are paid in accordance with their employment arrangements and legislation, to proactively seek ways to improve payroll processing and to provide professional, timely and accurate reporting as required.

Highly experienced Payroll Officer
Extensive working knowledge of relevant NZ Employment Legislation and compliance requirements
Experience in interpretation and application of collective employment agreements
Highly numerate with a keen eye for detail and high level of accuracy
High level of computer literacy
Excellent data entry skills including knowledge and skills using databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
Clear and competent written and oral communication skills
Experience working in a large complex environment with many compliance requirements.
Experience providing support to a range of people including managers.
Understanding of the linkages between the HRIS including payroll applications and other corporate functions
Able to build and maintain constructive relationships.
