Company Description -We have an exciting position for a Cost Controller (24 months Fixed Term Contract) who will support the operation with stringent cost control measures, analysing cost performance and provide sound commercial advice to the end users. The role will play a pivotal role in identifying cost reduction opportunities across the operation.

Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects - exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description -As a Cost Controller (24 months Fixed Term Contract) you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Provide financial support as and when requested to other departments to ensure operational efficiency and provide accurate financial reports on a monthly basis to maintain data integrity.
Ensure development and management of a financial tracking system, for audit purposes.
Supply “over cost” expenditure information as required by Finance in a timely and justified manner, through the analyses of monthly cost reports to eliminate deviation from the budget
Ensure financial evaluation of business initiatives (cost and revenue ideas) to avoid deviations.
Conduct project evaluations as and when initiated by business to project profitability.
Responsible for Financial Analysis and evaluation of business drivers to ensure alignment with business objectives
Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships toward enhancing the corporate profile.
Manage internal and external relations, including the interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that the business needs are met and employees are satisfied.
Provide relevant financial support to applicable stakeholders
Manage the section's expenditure within the approved budget to ensure effective cost control and savings.
Optimise human resources in a way that maximum output is delivered by the section as a whole.
Ensure work ethics is of such a nature that workers continuously strive towards improving their own performance.

This role is in the Finance department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Commercial Manager.

Qualifications -Relevant Finance Degree, e.g. BCom or Degree in Management Accounting
Valid Driver's Licence

Experience

Minimum 5 years' experience at an operational level (preferably Mining Industry)
Experience in analysis and benchmarking of financial / business data
Demonstrated experience working within a team to deliver against set financial targets
Experience working with ERP / SAP and Budgeting Tools will be advantageous
Experience in cost saving initiatives
