Job Description

The central finance team across our European region provide a trusted front-line financial support service.  As part of our commitment to developing and servicing our key clients, we are looking for a Graduate Finance Assistant to join our team based in either Croydon or Cambridge. 

Where you will gain a range of financial experience involving but not limited to: Management Accounts – basic accounting principles, big data analysis, corporate budgeting & forecasting, cost modelling/utilisation and FTEs; Financial Accounts – financial controls, KPI analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, consolidated accounts/year end audit; and Project Accounts – working capital control, project & proposal analysis, contracted work & forward order book, project budgeting & forecasting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Assisting the Finance Manager in preparing the corporate services budgets and rolling forecasts.

-Assist in the production of the monthly regional performance pack.

-Assist the Regional Finance Manager with quarterly central government returns.

-Prepare and submit various accrual balance sheet reconciliations to the financial accounts department.

-Monitoring of overhead spend across several cost centres.

-Preparing monthly schedules and reporting on overheads for Divisional Managers

-Provide financial data for business planning.    

-Prepare headcount and utilisation reports for business unit Finance Managers.

-Preparation and posting of journals. 

-Providing support and cover to the team as required.

-Assist with the preparation of financial slides for Board Meetings and other general company meetings where required

-Work with the Property Manager on premises cost analyst.

-Oversee the updating of the dilapidations schedule.

-Weekly monitoring of timesheet and absence errors, working with the admin team to resolve any issues.

-Other duties as directed.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months relevant experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines: 

  • Accounting and Finance or similar 

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:

  • Qualified AAT or studying towards ACCA / CIMA, or a skilled numerate person looking to start their accountancy career.
  • Must be a good communicator (both written and verbal).
  • Good understanding of Excel with the capability to work with large volumes of data.
  • Strong analytical skills with a good eye for detail.
  • Ability to see tasks through to conclusion.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
