Summary
This position is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting financial information for SCI/SCIF. Performs a variety of accounting functions, develops financial statements and analysis, monitors and tracks revenues and expenses, writes Accounting policies and procedures, performs account reconciliations and prepares adjusting journal entries.
This position routinely handles highly confidential information, must be highly organized, and have extreme attention to detail. Incumbents must also manage ambitious time constraints, conflicting priorities, and personal interactions which may become confrontational and unpleasant. Contacts are internal and external and include job candidates, employees at all levels of the organization, outside vendors, consultants, and the public at large.
Responsibilities
Conducts G/L account reconciliations and prepares adjusting journal entries.
Assists in preparation of a variety of internal and external financial statements and analyses including monthly departmental financial statements, annual Statements of Financial Position, Statements of Activities and Changes in Net Assets, Statement of Functional Revenues and Expenses, and Statements of Cash Flow.
Maintains schedules to monitor and track accounting of revenue and expenses which include temporarily and permanently restricted.
Assists in preparing for the annual financial statement audit.
Reconciles bank statements for Safari Club International and Safari Club Foundation.
Assists with various accounting related functions at the annual convention.
Writes and updates SCI/SCIF policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP. Makes recommendations to improve internal controls
Perform other related duties as assigned. Attends meetings, conventions, trade shows, and other events as appropriate.
Work Location and Travel Requirements
This position is full-time in the office. Travel is required to SCI's annual convention.
Skills and Abilities
Must be proficient with commonly used accounting, spreadsheet and database software, and order processing systems.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software, to include OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams with an ability to become familiar with SCI-specific programs and software.
Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
Motivation and strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
Qualifications and Education
This position requires knowledge and ability typically attained with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 2 years public accounting or internal audit experience and 3 to 5 years of related experience in an accounting/finance department with at least 2 years of general ledger accounting and financial statement reporting and analysis in a non-profit or governmental organization.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
At least 2 years of internal audit or public accounting experience.
Knowledge of Solomon accounting system and iMis or similar CRM database software is highly desirable.
