The role:
Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager (North), the role is for a solutions and people focused individual to manage our prime Vehicle Testing station at Te Rapa, plus staff based at our compliance partners sites.

Effectively and efficiently manage these sites, through 1 direct and 14 indirect reports.

Manage all contractual and customer commitments.
Ensure VINZ are compliant with Waka Kotahi (NZTA) requirements along with other key stakeholders.
Optimise productivity and profitability through skilful management of staff and resources, meeting financial targets, business planning and quality service delivery.
Continuous improvement, implementing best practice operations across the sites.
Promote a culture of high performance, individual and team accountability.
Ensure team members are well trained, engaged and confident to deliver on business objectives.
Health, safety and quality assurance to showcase the business as a national provider of inspection services.

About you:
Proven leadership and management experience showing evidence of building successful teams

Excellent communication skills and interpersonal ability to build rapport and understanding with a diverse range of people.
Experienced people management skills around recruitment, development, performance management etc.
Knowledge and experience working within a heavily regulated or compliance-based industry.
Proactive business approach, able to initiate and sustain key stakeholder relationships.
Sound computer and administration skills, including experience with P&L's and financial management.
Experience in the regulatory or automotive industries, or heavy transport is preferred but not essential.

Whilst all the skills listed above are necessary to be successful, this is a multi-faceted role where your natural leadership and ability to implement best practice operations will drive the business forward. Passion for empowering people to deliver timely quality services, a sense of humour, positive attitude and common sense will go a long way to impress!
