We are looking for a professional to join our team of over 14, 000 persons to provide tax oversight for a portfolio of Companies within the John Keells Group and to support the overall Tax Function of the John Keells Group.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all direct and indirect tax compliances for a portfolio of Companies.
  • Ensuring that all tax related risks are identified, analyzed, reviewed, and mitigated through proper monitoring systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with Transfer Pricing obligations and managing and mitigating risks proactively.
  • Liaising with regulatory authorities to manage and resolve any queries and audits including following up on refunds.
  • Oversight and monitoring of appeal processes including drafting of appeals and carrying out research to support tax positions.
  • Coordinating with external consultants where required.

Supporting the Group Head of Tax in:

  • developing and rolling out Group Tax policies and strategies
  • monitoring changes in the fiscal environment including case law and communicating the effects of these developments to internal stakeholders
  • structuring advice on M&A transactions and business restructuring.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

  • Member of ICASL/CIMA/ACCA/CFA/B.Sc. in Accountancy/Finance/ Taxation.
  • Extensive knowledge and familiarity with both direct and indirect tax laws
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • At least 4 years of working experience at a Managerial level focusing on the technical aspects in the tax field.
  • Excellent communication skills (written &verbal)
  • Strong negotiating skills using logical and persuasive arguments.
  • Ability to work well independently and deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with SAP would be an added advantage.

Remuneration for the above position will be in accordance with the JKH Compensation and Benefits Policy.
