This small practice accountancy in Berkshire strive to develop close and supportive relationships with clients. They are seeking an experienced part-time bookkeeper to add to their small but growing team. If you're looking for a friendly culture and a school hours position, this would be a great opportunity!

The Client

Our client is a practice with two offices in Berkshire. They consider themselves to have a positive supportive culture and offer lots of training. They are looking for a bookkeeper who has solid technical experience and is comfortable working with clients.

The Role

Responsibilities in this client facing role will include:
  • Setting up new clients, providing additional help and guidance to teach the client how to effectively follow processes and use systems and software.
  • Processing historical transactions which may have been left from the client's own bookkeeping processes or a previous bookkeeper.
  • Ensuring sales, purchases and out of pocket expenses are recorded accurately, control accounts are reconciled and journals are posted on a monthly basis.
  • Managing client year end, VAT return submissions, CIS submissions and payroll.
  • Working with and supporting clients to enable them to scan their own bills, receipts and invoices.
  • Ensuring Payroll is run in a timely manner, either weekly, fortnightly or monthly according to each client's requirements.
  • Submission of monthly RTI return, and summary reports provided to the client along with employee payslips.

The Candidate
  • It is desirable for the role holder to be a qualified and/or certified bookkeeper, with either ICB, AAT or IAB (or similar).
  • A high quality of accuracy and attention to detail is required in all areas of bookkeeping.
  • Be a team player with a positive can-do attitude (a dog lover and sense of humour helps too!)
  • Confidently work with your portfolio of clients, giving them a relaxing experience knowing their finances are in safe hands.

The Terms
  • c30 hours per week, up to full-time. Hours to be worked in the office Monday-Friday. There is some flexibility to work around school drop off and pick up times.
  • Salary up to £27k FTE* (Dependent on Experience).
  • Holiday allowance - 33 days including bank holidays. The office closes between Christmas and New Year, so some of the holiday allowance is utilised then
