This role is responsible for effective financial and management control, leading key finance projects and the implementation of policies and procedures within the Group.
Job Description


Financial metrics


Support business decision making through robust financial analysis and deep knowledge of financial operation and expertise.
Recommending finance solutions which drive efficiency, improve understanding of business models, and reduce business risk, through standard accounting rules and practices.
Preparation and implementation of policies and procedures resulting in a proper control framework and financial governance.
Daily cash management reporting together with strategic cash flow investment decisions.
Documentation of system descriptions, processes and rate cards to enhance accuracy and provide conformity across the group.
Lead key finance projects such as the analysis of general ledger accounts to create policy documents for accurate capturing, creation of project codes to compare actual vs budget costs etc.
Chart of account alignment across the group and continuous maintenance of these accounts.
Commercial strategic thinking to liaise with banks and other suppliers to continuously negotiate beneficial rates.
Keep abreast with the latest technological updates within the market with the key focus on the automation of processes within the finance department and overall business.
Preparation of trading statements and trend analysis.
Keep abreast of developments in finance and accounting and be proactive in ensuring that managers are appropriately briefed on relevant changes and new legislation.
Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with the various departments and operational managers to ensure efficient reporting.
Undertake complex financial modelling to evaluate project/decision proposals.
Identification of control weakness, designing of internal controls and implementation thereof.
Support the Group FM and CFO with specific projects and reports and data extractions.
Any ad hoc tasks.

Succession planning (through effective mentoring and counselling).
Promote a culture of confidentiality within the business with regards to the protection of personal
information.
Ensure all personal information of loan applicants and suppliers and other stakeholders is not
shared and is maintained in a secure environment.


Compliance, risk and quality


Attendance at necessary training sessions.
Maintenance of department process write-ups/ system descriptions and annual updating.
Ensure logical saving of all work, templates, etc. monthly and yearly such that each years financial
records can stand on its own when enquiries/ investigations/audits take place.
Produce high quality, neat, logical, succinct, easy to follow, easy to understand, formula linked
work/templates/workbooks/financial models.
Ensure the above (final version) and other documents are chronologically saved/backed up and
appropriately named.

Qualifications:
  • Matric
  • Financial tertiary / Bcom degree
  • Articles completed
  • 3 years commerical experience
  • 2 years Management experience
  • you need to be strong in managing projects and be very strategic
