Senior Commercial & Strategy Analyst - EPUK Investments Ltd (EPUKI)

The Role:

An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Senior Commercial Analyst (Strategy)as part of the EPUKI all-island commercial team. The role will support the Commercial Manager & Commercial Director to develop and execute commercial strategies, across all the commodity exposures, (capacity, energy, ancillary services & fuel), merchant or otherwise, for EPUKI. The successful candidate will be responsible for the Gross Margin forecast for the EP portfolio in the Island of Ireland. This will include the management of the fundamental/dispatch market modelling of all revenue (capacity, energy, ancillary revenue) and costs (fuel, variable operation & maintenance) associated with gross margin and strategies in support of:
    • Commodity positions and hedging strategies in merchant energy markets
    • Budgeting and monthly forecasting & for long term planning
    • Business Development
    • Transmission System Operator and Utility Regulator negotiations
    • Commercial contracts
  • Supports the negotiation of fuel, commodity, and hedge agreements to facilitate the trading of power, coal, gas, HFO, Gasoil and carbon including physical, futures, options and freight/transportation arrangements.
  • Responsible for counterparty credit assessment and the development of an appropriate credit strategy to minimise credit exposure. Liaise with Settlements, Treasury/Finance functions to ensure appropriate counterparty credit arrangements are in place and are effectively managed.
  • Produce comprehensive weekly and monthly reports on market position, key market analysis, hedging position, mtm position, credit exposure, credit cover etc.
  • Co-ordinate with and support EPDEL trading team to help ensure effective trading strategies. To help ensure timely & accurate settlement of energy, fuel, commodity, & hedge transactions.
  • Responsible for risk management compliance monitoring and review of commercial activities on a regular basis to ensure that processes, policies, and procedures are being adhered to by the business.
  • Assist with tendering, and commercial negotiation of key commercial contracts.
  • Assist with new build strategy formation and associated commercial analysis.
  • Support with management and the development of team members.

The Ideal Person:

Background
  • Experience in Gross Margin management & reporting
  • Experience and knowledge of the Energy Sector in the Island of Ireland markets.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK and EU commodity markets including gas, coal, oil and carbon.
  • Understanding of commercial risk management strategies including hedging strategies and governance.
  • Knowledge of the technical, financial, and commercial risks and opportunities involved in managing and negotiating contracts.

Qualifications

Third level qualification (degree preferred) in a business, legal or engineering related discipline or alternatively extensive relevant experience.
