As a Performance Analyst you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely performance measurement (“results measurement”) and portfolio analytics for Capital Group’s Multi Asset and Equity Funds suite. You will be responsible for calculating and analyzing portfolio results, attribution, and analytics in support of external clients, shareholders, Marketing and other internal stakeholders. You’ll play a critical role in drawing new insights based on developing investment acumen and providing support for enterprise wide initiatives and strategic objectives, including developing new product offerings. You will join a team focused on enabling a superior investment process while focusing on operational excellence, continuous improvement and process optimization.

  • Partners with investment and distribution associates to determine analytical requirements and makes appropriate recommendations.
    • Designs, develops and interprets analytical/statistical models and forecasts using appropriate programing languages and applications in support of the investment and distribution decision-making processes.
    • Researches current and historical portfolios using advanced attribution analysis, investment style analysis and other techniques as necessary.
  • Presents investment results and quantitative analytics internally and externally.
    • Builds relationships and establishes frequent correspondence with internal departments and key or important external entities to answer questions and/or provide intellectual input on a variety of topics, (e.g. RFPs).
    • May participate in client due diligence or other audits.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for functional areas of the business and one or more internal and external industry applications.
    • Effectively utilizes, modifies and guides usage of analytical techniques.
    • Leads in the analysis and assessment of new initiatives, application evaluations, requirements and acceptance criteria.
    • Leads relationships with outsourcing providers to ensure agreed-upon SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
    • Defines and performs quality checks and verifies the accuracy of work prepared by other associates.
  • Provides leadership for the department.
    • Provides direction to other associates and assists them in completing their assignments.
    • Participates in the training and development of other associates. Provides feedback to managers regarding special training requirements.
    • Serves as a positive role model and mentors other associates.
  • Keeps abreast of current and possible future internal and external trends, industry best practices, technology and potential impact on established procedures.
    • Develops policy guidelines and best practices at the functional level.
    • Coordinates and implements newly developed policies, processes and procedures into Results Analysis.
    • May collaborate with Legal on compliance matters.
    • May participate in regulatory agency and independent audits.
  • Manages complex projects to create new processes and practices and resolve cross-group business issues with solid understanding of how the projects impact the organization.
  • May work with other analytical groups to execute analysis on asset allocation and investment holdings.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.


Business & technical skills:
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of Results Analysis’ policies, procedures, products and services and ability to apply it to work assignments.
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of key performance measurement, risk and attribution concepts and ability to apply it to work assignments.
  • Demonstrates and applies an in-depth knowledge of Capital’s funds, mandates, investment process and various functions.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of industry applications.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead and manage projects across multiple teams or groups.

Essential:
  • You have a minimum of 5 years+ experience in a Performance / Results Measurement role and want to continue to forge a successful career in performance.
  • Strong EQ / MA Results / asset class experience in a similar role
  • You have experience with calculating, validating and interpreting portfolio investment results, interpreting Attribution, benchmark analysis and transaction/holdings-based analysis.
  • You have excellent data analysis skills via SQL and data visualization tools (Tableau, Alteryx and/or Power BI) and MS Excel Skills (e.g. functions, charting, and pivot tables),
  • You’ve used applications such as: FactSet, Aladdin and/or Morningstar
  • You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where critical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity and leadership qualities are essential for success.
  • You’re a skilled communicator and thrive in team settings by being authentic, respectful and engaging.
  • You’re devoted to continuous learning, development, and you find new ways of challenging yourself.


Desirable:
  • Expert Factset knowledge and practical experience e.g. PA, Data Central, Batcher, Portfolio List Manager (PLM) with demonstrable outputs available.
  • Expert Data Analysis / Visualisation skills (Tableau, Python)
  • Fund of Funds & Multi Asset knowledge & experience
  • UK OEICS knowledge
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, mathematics, economics, statistics, management information systems or a relevant field of study.
  • Competitor Analysis experience (M*, eVestment etc.)
  • Bloomberg knowledge and practical experience
