We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our client, whospecialise in services for the agriculture, animal and food and beverage industries.

The role will be offered of a full time basis which will include flexible, office based hours.

Reporting to the Assistant Accountant & Administration Manager, the successful candidate will assist with all aspects of Sales Ledger and Cashbook.



  • Assisting with credit control (including - routine letters and telephone calls to customers, reviewing customers credit limits, reviewing aged debtor list, liaise with foreign customer service staff for overdue invoices, producing monthly statements, update on hold lists and establish relationships with customer accounting departments)
  • Set up new customer accounts and using guidelines, allocate credit limits.
  • Routinely update sales ledger accounts with contact details and correct default details. Deal with disputed invoices and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Post cashbook transactions.
  • Deposit cheques.
  • Answer telephone, redirect calls and take messages. Distribute incoming mail and process incoming / outgoing mail.
  • Assist visitors to the business, ensuring they follow correct procedures for signing in.
  • Any other relevant duties.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages
  • Knowledge of SAGE systems would be helpful although training will be provided
  • A qualification in administrative and/or accounts would be helpful.
