DESCRIPTION

Amazon is looking for a smart, motivated, and analytical Credit Analyst to join our Amazon B2B Payments team to provide underwriting, portfolio management, and risk management for the B2B SMB Financing product. The SMB financing product provides business customers with term loans to build their selling business on Amazon. This role involves high judgement decision making, use of analytics, building scalable risk management/monitoring processes and requires frequent interaction with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure decisions are sound and well understood. The Credit Analyst will support the underwriting, loss mitigation efforts and management of the entire UK SMB financing portfolio. The successful candidate will have a strong desire in innovating processes, strong attention to detail and exceed expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. The position requires an individual who can work autonomously in a fast paced, highly demanding and often ambiguous environment. This role will report into the Senior Portfolio Manager in London, UK.

Key job responsibilities
  • Evaluate credit applications - analyzing data from financial statements, credit reference agencies, application forms and other third party sources to arrive at fast, fair, and appropriate credit decisions
  • Loss mitigation - Own loss mitigation efforts and strategies through proactive identification of delinquency indicators and evaluation/assessment of high-risk accounts, propose strategies to maintain loss rates within acceptable levels. Also involves owning relationship with third party collection agency to drive recoveries.
  • Communicate with customers - requires strong Customer Obsession as an Amazon representative in all credit-related communication with Amazon Business customers. Maintain strong engagement with the customers after the loan is underwritten to monitor the performance of their lending accounts, ensuring timely repayments, identifying any early signals of stress and taking proactive actions to mitigate risk of repayments.
  • Monitor credit performance - monitoring of lending portfolio to inform credit strategy not only from internal portfolio performance and indicators but also an impact from the external macroeconomic environment.
  • Analytics - Drive new business initiatives e.g. open banking backed by data based analytical and strategic insights to grow the portfolio and expand the seller outreach while maintaining the credit risk and loss rates within acceptable levels. Clearly communicate proposals to gain buy-in to strategy changes from partners across the organisation. Always be on the look out for more data to improve credit decisioning and underwriting.
  • Collaboration with internal teams - requires strong working relationships with internal teams including technical product teams, operational and fraud teams globally.
  • Improve processes - work with internal teams to understand the systems and variables that affect credit management decisions, and drive continuous improvements in the logic, tools and processes, with a strong emphasis on automating tasks and improving operational efficiencies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience in commercial, finance, risk, lending, or payments environment
  • Strong excel modelling skills and experience of data extraction and analysis on SQL
  • Ability to interpret key financial statements/information
  • Strong logical and methodical approach to align customer solutions to strategic goals
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in B2B payments, underwriting, portfolio monitoring and management
  • Strong and proven quantitative analytical skills
