Assistant Analyst

At Greene King we have a fantastic developmental opportunity for an Assistant Analyst - Finance, to join us within our Brewing and Brands division. This is a permanent role offering hybrid working, with 2 days a week presence in the Bury St Edmunds offices and the remainder of the time working from home/agile. As Assistant Analyst your role will be to support and improve the financial performance of Brewing & Brands Logistics and Cellar Services. This will be achieved through reporting, analysis, and insight into the link between financial and non-financial information

What are the key accountabilities?
  • Understanding the strategy of the business and the role of finance in delivering it
  • Supporting Business Partners with extraction and manipulation of data from Greene King's various Management Information Systems, validating this data and preparing detailed analysis and performance metrics as required
  • Investigating and identifying anomalies with data and propose solutions to correct
  • Understanding the principles of budgeting/forecasting and how to identify variances to actual performance
  • Completing detailed operations overhead analysis and review
  • Able to develop reporting which links Operational data to Financial reporting
  • Ensuring all KPIs and efficiencies included in the budget/forecast process are accurate and complete
  • Completing Capex submissions for initial review, collating data and completing all calculations
  • Working with Finance Shared Services to ensure that all data and reports received by Brewing & Brands is complete and of the right quality
  • Understanding the need for robust financial governance in the business together with adherence to the wider Group's policies.
  • Has a general understanding of Brewing & Brands' business streams and its value to other parts of the business
  • Completion of ad hoc analysis and reporting for the wider Brewing & Brands Finance Team as required

What skills and experience do I need?

We are looking for a passion and enthusiasm for Finance and analysis coupled with a drive to to professionally develop with our support through professional finance qualifications e.g., AAT, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent. You will need to have the ability to work with large amounts of data and interpret results as well as confident in developing relationships on a professional basis with non-finance colleagues. Excellent attention to detail and strong Excel skills will be required for this role as well as someone comfortable with stakeholder engagement, demonstrating not only the IT competency but the customer services.
