The Senior Manager, Climate and Environment is a critical member of the Living Progress team which is responsible for advancing the company's environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) strategies. HPE is consistently recognized as an ESG leader and has an ambitious commitment to transform into a net-zero company by 2040.

This individual will lead HPE's climate and environmental initiatives at the corporate level, working across the enterprise and engaging with key stakeholders (business groups, global operations/supply chain, global workplace, and more) to drive decarbonization across HPE's value chain. You will report to HPE's Chief Sustainability Officer and lead a small team instrumental in reducing the environmental impacts and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of HPE. In short, this position will be HPE's global expert on our GHG and environment strategies and be an action-oriented leader in our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint.

The successful candidate will be data-driven and results-oriented. You will thrive in a fast-paced work environment and be able to adapt to changing circumstances. You will be a collaborative partner, working in close coordination with numerous subject matter experts across a high-functioning and diverse sustainability organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, track, and evolve the company's global environmental and climate strategies and execution thereof, resulting in net-zero carbon footprint by 2040.
  • Lead as the subject matter expert on climate-related initiatives in support of HPE's corporate strategy, supporting sustainability leads within business units, global operations, global workplace, and other groups to drive improved environmental performance with a data-centric view.
  • Responsible for leading a team.
  • Work with business unit and function leaders, in partnership with the Director of Sustainable Innovation, to enhance understanding of our GHG emissions, our opportunities to reduce them, and our progress toward our targets.
  • Oversee company and product lifecycle inventories for GHG, water, and other resources; work with ESG reporting team to ensure accuracy of environmental disclosures across channels such as CDP, DJSI, and HPE's ESG and financial reports.
  • Lead climate-risk assessments, strategies, and reporting aligned to the Taskforce on Climate Related Financial Disclosures to ensure the resilience of HPE's business and compliance with emerging regulations.
  • Shape HPE's environmental policies and provide strategic input on the advocacy, market environments, and partnerships necessary to support HPE's renewable energy and net-zero goals, with a focus on decarbonization of the grid where we, our suppliers, and our customers operate.
  • Facilitate thought-leadership agenda and build external community networks by representing HPE on key coalitions and working groups such as Clean Energy Buyers Alliance, the ITI's Climate group, and more.
  • Build and lead a high performing and inclusive team, setting ambitious, measurable objectives and goals which will have direct impact to HPE's sustainability commitments.

Skills / Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar field is required, advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 6+ years of experience in corporate sustainability, sustainability consulting with focus on technology sector preferred. You must be a subject matter expert in the sustainability space with a strong focus on data analysis, carbon reduction strategies, industry trends, and executive engagement.
  • Previous leadership or project management experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading company-wide measurement, monitoring, reporting, and reduction of environmental impacts.
  • Proven experience in carbon accounting, carbon reduction strategy, energy efficiency, target setting and annual disclosure reporting.
  • Experience in Life Cycle Assessment preferred.
  • Ability to navigate through complex datasets and experience with complex problem solving and analysis using statistical methods, financial modelling.
  • Strong technical communication and influencing skills with the ability to address a wide range of audiences including business leaders and executives.
  • Prior knowledge of ESG reporting protocols, standards and frameworks like Greenhouse Gas Protocol, SASB, TCFD, DJSI, CDP.
  • Experience in global clean energy policy and regulations.
  • Ability to pivot quickly and seamlessly between projects, managing multiple deadlines and requests.
