Job Description

As a Senior Financial Reporting Manager, you will lead the production of the Group’s external financial reporting, including the Group annual report and accounts, quarterly interim reporting and subsidiary statutory accounts. Provide technical support for accounting and reporting matters and with the monthly financial close and internal reporting processes.

Key accountabilities:
  • Responsibility for the leading the planning & preparation of the Group annual report and accounts, annual statutory accounts, and quarterly external reporting to agreed deadlines and periodic financial reporting to support treasury transactions, including stakeholder management required to deliver the additional reports for the group’s glossy accounts.
  • Primary lead for engagement with external audit, planning and timing of audit work and managing the interaction with the delivery of statutory reporting.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Audit Committee and Board are provided with sufficient information to enable them to provide appropriate oversight of financial reporting, including the Group Annual Report & Accounts, key areas of accounting judgement and estimate, as well as the statutory accounts for entities within the Group.
  • Responsible for leading the design and implementation of the risk and control framework for the external Financial Reporting team, co-ordinating and liaising with Financial Control on this, and providing support to the wider Finance and Treasury team.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination and planning of financial reporting deliverables across the team ensuring timely review and delivery and documentation of clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Assist with the design of measures, metrics and internal Management Information as required to ensure consistency with external financial reporting.
  • Provision of technical expertise in preparation of analysis & reporting under IFRS, in particular IFRS9, FRS101, FRS102 and SPV accounts.
  • Work stream lead for applicable finance formal projects. Lead on ad-hoc financial reporting developments and informal projects, as and when required, co-ordinating with the Group Technical Reporting Manager where appropriate. Responsibility for the performance management and development of the external financial reporting team, plus providing additional support to the Financial Control, FP&A, and Treasury teams on technical and statutory reporting matters and mentoring to other team members.
  • Management of senior stakeholders around the group, liaising directly with:
    • The Group, and Divisional FDs in explaining key areas of the Group’s annual reporting,
    • The Group CEO and other senior management in developing the ‘front-end’ reports for the group’s glossy accounts
    • Other senior members of the Finance and Treasury management teams
    • Risk, marketing and corporate affairs
    • The external auditors both in planning the audit and addressing technical issues
    • Company Secretary
    • Non-Executive Directors

Essential skills and experience:
  • Qualified ACA or similar with experience in producing group and multiple subsidiary accounts
  • Highly organised and efficient with an ability to work under pressure and deliver to agreed deadlines
  • IFRS knowledge and IFRS9 financial instruments experience
  • Experience the review, design, implementation and documentation of control frameworks
  • Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong focus on the quality of work with attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Nice to have skills and experience:
  • Financial services industry knowledge
  • Experience with producing statutory reporting for listed companies, within a Bank or financial services business.
  • Experience with derivatives and hedge accounting.
  • Experience of BI tools is advantageous
