Payroll Manager

Reporting to the Owner and working in collaboration with Directors and Senior Management



Salary:
£ Negotiable dependant on experience

Hours of work:

Monday 08:00 - 17:30
Tuesday 08:00 - 17:30
Wednesday 08:00 - 17:30

Thursday 08:00 - 17:30

Friday 08:00- 16:00

Most weekly working hours are 40-45 hours per week.

Primary Objective - Will be to ensure the payroll department complies with payroll information and that payroll preparation and end to end process is carried out to a high level delivering an exceptional service to all.

Tasks/duties/responsibilities

Overseeing weekly payroll processing.
Managing the day to day operation/performance of the payroll team providing a proactive, responsive and quality driven service.
Liaising with credit control, management accounts and the contracts team on a daily basis to ensure all processes are working effectively and to deal with any queries.
Complete all adjustments.
Dealing with all payroll queries in a timely manner.
Dealing with attachment of earnings, year end P14's P35's & P60's
Completing week end and year end's with in required HMRC timeframes
Management of Nest payroll scheme
Work with the HR/Compliance/Operations teams to streamline administrative processes to maintain an efficient and effective support service to the business.
Manage, process and co-ordinate payroll transactions and incoming mail, responding to emails as appropriate within agreed timescales.
Confidently communicate with a wide range of stakeholders by phone and email.
Maintain organised files.
Effectively manage spreadsheets.
Support in collating worker hours.
Dealing with any HMRC and DWP queries.
Conducting regular checks to ensure the department is running efficiently, and developing systems to deal with issues as they arise.
Manage the performance and progression of the payroll team including reviews and annual appraisals.

Experience/Qualifications

Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint and any payroll or accountancy software
Excellent command of the English language both oral and written.
Able to prioritise tasks and achieve KPI's.
Excellent writing skills.
Ability to work under pressure.
Creative & Positive attitude.
Experience of working in fast paced payroll environment.
A positive attitude and an ability to work autonomously as well as within a sociable team dynamic is vital as well as a keen ability to focus on the details and build relationships internally and externally.

Desirable

A lively and enquiring mind with a logical approach to work, combined with analytical and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of the intricacies of a weekly temporary payroll
Enjoys transformation and implementation with a view to improvement and streamlining the department
