As a Finance Manager, you will play a key role for our growing and exciting operations in Germany. The number of German hotels has grown significantly in the last few years with over 45 currently and many more in the pipeline. This is a reasonably new team being built, so you'll have the opportunity to improve accounting processes and controls.

About the team and the role:

The Financial Accounting and Control (A&C) team is a critical element of the overall Financial Control team, preparing annual financial statements, leading the month end close process, providing accurate periodic management accounts, processing journal transactions, reconciling balance sheet accounts, delivering financial reporting and acting as a business partner to key areas of the organisation.

The Finance Manager International, will be responsible for our month end close process and have an instrumental role in ensuring our accounting and control processes are set up and operating in a controlled, efficient and group aligned way. In addition to this they will work closely with our Local German GAAP Accounting team and support in bridging between IFRS and Local German GAAP to prepare our annual Local German GAAP financial statements.

What you'll be doing:
  • Taking ownership of the PI Germany month end close process and reporting cycle by engaging and partnering with the wider finance teams to deliver a controlled and insightful close
  • Preparation of P&L and Balance Sheet packs for our monthly financial reviews with Directors
  • Lead on Whitbread accounting policies adherence across both IFRS and German GAAP
  • Engaging with our External Auditors and supporting on the delivery of year-end audit support
  • Delivery of key group wide projects that ensure the business is set up for future growth and success. This will involve working with various stakeholders across the business
  • Key point of contact and interface to the Germany Finance Team, UK Finance and wider teams. Directly reports to UK Accounting & Control team and a dotted reporting line to Germany Finance
  • Maintain effectiveness of Controls in accordance with processes documented in the Financial Controls Framework (FCF)
  • Process review and improvements to deliver and effective and efficient accounting service
  • Support the Operational audit team during the audit process - which will include site visits to Germany

What you'll need:
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified / close to qualifying
  • Dealing with external auditors as required and managing a year end process
  • Interacting with senior stakeholders and a Group function
  • Exposure to German GAAP and/or other multi-international regulatory requirements.

  • German language skills would be beneficial but not essential.
