Mō te tūranga | About the Role

As the Sanctions Transformation and Screening Analyst, you will be a part of the Westpac New Zealand Limited (WNZL) Financial Crime, Global Risk team. Reporting to the Manager Sanctions Assurance you will play a key role in enabling legitimate international trade and finance while ensuring Westpac complies with national and international sanctions legal, regulatory and policy obligations to protect the integrity and reputation of Westpac and our customers globally. The key focus of this role is to ensure the sanctions screening infrastructure, processes and procedures are in alignment with Westpac's sanctions obligations.

As the Sanctions Transformation and Screening Analyst some of your key responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical expertise in line with policy settings to projects, and initiatives that impact sanctions.
  • Support the maintenance of sanctions processes and procedures initiated by change through audit finding, sanctions obligation or annual testing.
  • Work alongside the Financial Crime Service Owner to understand, implement and test changes to technology initiated as a result of meeting a sanctions obligation, or implementing a sanctions function
  • Support the management of policy settings and initiate changes to sanctions screening infrastructure, working alongside FCM Operational teams, and Technology to implement the required changes.
  • Maintain key elements that ensure WNZL's sanctions screening capability is aligned to Westpac sanctions policy and obligations.

  • Experience in project and technology implementation.
  • Experience with excel and process mapping tools.
  • Demonstrable skills in complex analysis, risk management and problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to articulate complex issues in simple language.
  • Capable of handling multiple, simultaneous, and various ad-hoc requests, and able to ensure timely and effectively delivery in a deadline-focused environment.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
