The opportunity
Join us in this newly created role, as the Senior Risk Manager for our NZ Pacific business. Be part of a global insurer, linked in with the broader Chief Risk Officer team but providing local advice and guidance. Providing 2nd line oversight and engagement across the entire business, you will have the opportunity to influence, challenge and support our business stakeholders in identifying, monitoring and mitigating risks. This will include being involved in any deep dives across areas of concern and coverage across relevant projects and change.

Your new role
Based in Auckland, you will report to the General Manager, Risk Business Challenge and be part of a passionate, solution focused business risk team. Key aspects of your role will be:
- Review and challenge business unit strategic plans which support the delivery of business performance with an appropriate risk overlay
- Provide succinct insight and 2nd line opinion on how risk is managed throughout the business.
- Support a strong risk culture
- Provide meaningful input to 2nd line risk reporting (including in the CRO report)
- Assess the design, implementation, and ongoing effective operation of the NZPAC business governance and control framework to mitigate risks
- Provide oversight and review of the effectiveness of risk management across business operations and programs of change and delivering relevant executive and Board reporting.
About you
You will be an experienced risk manager preferably having worked within the insurance or financial services industry. You are:
- A strong communicator, with ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, bringing potential issues along with solutions to the table.
- A natural influencer, you can assess risk and think outside the box, with the ability to identify issues and think though implications
- Analytical, with the ability to leverage data to tell a story and influence change
- Practical working knowledge of risk management frameworks, policies and processes and 3 lines of defence
- Current knowledge of regulatory requirement for risk reporting and management within New Zealand corporate entities
