Babcock Finance Business Services (FBS)

The Financial Accountant role is based within our Babcock Finance Business Services (FBS) business unit.

Babcock Finance Business Services - Reporting, Control & Efficiency is a new team created through an internal reorganisation of the Babcock International Group UK Finance function, pooling together finance expertise from across the Group. The team will have responsibility for the co-ordination of UK audit deliverables ensuring that regulatory reporting requirements are met, develop, and deliver a strong financial controls environment, and standardise finance policies and processes across the Group.

The role The difference our new Financial Accountant will make

As a Financial Accountant you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will have the opportunity to be a key player in the newly formed Finance Business Services department in a group level finance role, working alongside a highly effective team where the highest standards of technical and behavioural excellence are expected. Not only will you be responsible for maintaining the financial reporting and control processes of the organisation, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to ad-hoc projects that will shape the future of the department and the company as a whole. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a dynamic and growing organisation.

Day to day, you'll be responsible for delivering standard finance policies and processes, strengthening financial controls, and optimising efficiencies. You will oversee financial governance, statutory accounts, and compliance reporting, and support legal entity rationalisation and ad-hoc projects. Additionally, you will provide technical accounting expertise and support internal and external audit processes. Your role is also to maintain close working relationships with sector teams and support the development of the Finance Business Services function.

Essential experience

Qualified accountant
Experience in reviewing and improving finance processes
Technical finance skills, with proven ability to understand and interpret accounting principles (being able to explain technical accounting to non-technical, non-financial staff)
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Outlook.
Experience of Finance IT applications (e.g. SAP, NAV (Navision, IFS, etc.)What we offer
