Payroll and Accounts Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity where you can develop your experience of performing payroll, accounting and administrative tasks to accomplish the financial functions of the company. You will work within our small, friendly Finance team, based in Plaistow.
Your responsibilities will include:
Perform the accounts receivable functions, such as raising invoices, cash allocations & postings and credit control
Act as first line contact with vendors regarding billing problems
Perform the accounts payable functions, ensure all invoices are received, checked and processed in a timely manner
Check and set the suppliers payment runs
Perform payroll processing, reporting and quality assurance functions
Submit reports and payments to HMRC and a pension provider to tight deadlines.
Run Payroll year end routines
Prepare and make bank deposits
Maintain petty cash records
Prepare month end accruals postings
Keep Managing Director informed of potential accounting and billing problems
Assist in the production of management accounts
We are ideally looking for
A colleague that has 3 years+ experience in an accounts payable capacity, with experience to include budgeting, accounting and reporting – ideally within a multi-site operation
You will make use of your analytical ability and modern payroll and accounting principles and practice knowledge
A recognised finance, accounting or equivalent qualification – or you may be in the process of working towards this qualification
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sage 50 Cloud Payroll and Xero in order to process electronic data – this is essential
Additional requirements

You are resilient and happy to work with pressurised situations / deadlines at times
You have an ability to perform mathematical computations accurately and quickly
Effective oral and written communication skills; keen to establish and maintain effective working relationships

We offer a competitive salary of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (negotiable, dependent on experience)
