JOB TITLE: Post Investment Officer - Workout & Restructuring (18 MONTHS FIXED-TERM CONTRACT)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Reporting to the SENIOR PIO WORKOUT & RESTRUCTURING, the successful candidate will be primary responsible for analysing existing investee/clients financial, management, marketing and technical information, with a view to conduct loan restructuring feasibility assessments and develop a rehabilitation/rescue plan for clients in distress or potentiality in distress. This will be performed in order to shield SMMEs from possible business failure thus creating sustainable SMMEs, minimising non-payment by SMMEs and reducing loan write offs.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: The incumbent will be required to perform, inter alia, the following key focus areas:
  • Assist the Senior Workout and Restructuring Specialist in developing a restructuring diagnostic tool.
  • Perform a detailed analysis of sefa clients that are showing signs of distress and provide turn around solutions for the clients.

  • Liaise with various internal stakeholders including the investment team as well as the monitoring teams to gain thorough understanding of investments.
  • Visit clients in distress to conduct complete due diligence on the entities in distress in order to gain understanding of the entity and to perform physical verification of business operations.
  • Prepare financial models using various restructuring techniques based on the practical client situation while benchmarking with industry data.
  • Provide a full analysis of client financial information and prepare reports.
  • Support the Senior Workout and Restructuring Specialist when presenting deals to approval structures.
  • Create and update quarterly portfolio reviews for a portfolio of distressed related clients.
  • Track default and recovery metrics, and regularly report key information to senior management.
  • Undertake special projects as and when required.
  • Manage disbursements where applicable.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • A Bachelor's/B. Tech Degree in Accounting or Finance (NQF level 7) or related field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a deal making/investment environment.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in SMME deal structuring and analysis environment, demonstrating strong financial modelling and computer skills.
  • DFI working experience will be an added advantage.
  • Proven track-record in conducting financial due diligence, transaction proposals and portfolio reporting.
  • Exceptional report writing, presentation and communication skills with an ability to interact with a very broad spectrum of stakeholders.
  • Team player with good problem-solving skills and an ability to execute tasks timely and effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure, travel long distances and work long hours as and when required.
  • Knowledge of current government policies and strategies aimed at developing and supporting SMMEs in South Africa.

CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of financial principles.
  • Sound knowledge of legislation applicable to SMEs and Co-operatives.
  • Knowledge of credit control, financial modelling and financial feasibility planning.
  • Sound knowledge of the Due Diligence process.
  • Sound knowledge of Portfolio Management.
