POSITION: Management Accountant
JOB GRADING: D-Lower
DEPARTMENT: Commercial Services
SITE: South Deep Gold Mine
The Management Accountant is accountable for providing end-to-end Management Accounting support to designation production departments to ensure the appropriate application of financial principles and standards. The incumbent will be required to support client groups with full accounting support ranging from budget development; budget trend analysis, audit, risk and assurance compliance and, the design of remedial measures to ensure efficiency optimisation aligned to the broader South Deep strategy.
Minimum Requirements:
* Tertiary qualification in Management Accounting or Financial Management.
* Have at least 5 years' Senior Accountant / Cost Accountant working experience in management accounting within a mining environment.
* Have advanced knowledge of management accounting principles.
* Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant's suitability for employment.

* Sound understanding and application of management accounting principles including price/ quantity variance analysis and management of Bills of Material.
* Intermediate knowledge of IFRS, financial accounting, SOX and tax legislation
* Advanced knowledge of SAP CO and SAP PS
* Working knowledge of SAP PM
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of activities.
* Responsible for team leadership by managing workload, assigning tasks and reviewing/ recognising outputs of team members.
* Contribute towards addressing issues of tactical importance for the delivery and mainstreaming of Management Accounting initiatives and developing tools to support this process.
* Align departmental short to medium term objectives to the operational business plan.
* Proactively support budget holders in identifying areas for improvement in terms of cost and efficiency.
* Provide input to the operational budget based on historical trends and current developments by controlling costs and eliminating wastage of resources, monitoring element and costing activities.
* Ensure the availability of financial data to meet customer and statutory requirements by daily monitoring of stores, overtime, renewals, replacements and capital, compiling financial comparisons.
* Assist with the design of various financial projects within the operation directed towards value adding people, process and systems optimisation.
* Participate and lead various improvement/optimisation interventions such as accounting designs / bespoke projects, and coordinating development initiatives to embed the design change.
* Maintain approved governance and assurance standards and monitor on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis to ensure compliance.
