About the role
Our Finance apprenticeship scheme is an alternative route to university and provides you with the opportunity to earn a competitive salary whilst gaining experience & knowledge across a number of different finance teams and studying to achieve an accountancy qualification.
Our Finance function delivers the insights that drive our financial outperformance and long-term value. We engage with all areas of the National Grid business reporting on performance and acting as partners to aid in decision making.
On the programme, youll gain exposure to different parts of our business and be an integral part of the team from the start. The finance function plays an important role across a number of areas, and youll be actively involved in the following:
Through the finance apprenticeship programme, you will undertake a 2-year Level 4 apprenticeship which upon successful completion will lead into a 3-year Level 7 apprenticeship. Throughout both apprenticeships you will undertake a number of placements with the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of roles across different types of finance teams.
The Level 4 apprenticeship will include placements within the transactional/general accounting team based in our Warwick office where you will develop your base level finance knowledge and technical skills. This will usually include:
During your two years, youll also take part in various off the job training to develop your skills and you will also study towards an accountancy qualification through a dedicated training provider.
About you
Finance is a crucial function of National Grid and affects every aspect of the company so you will need to be a good communicator and be able to engage with people at every level. An interest in Finance and is a must but more important is your commitment and enthusiasm to learn and develop and a passion and drive to succeed.
You dont need prior work experience or finance-based A-Levels; we will teach you everything you need to know to have a successful and rewarding career in Finance.
Youll need GCSEs in Maths & English at grade 5 or higher, and 2 A-Levels at Grade C or higher (or equivalent) in any discipline.
