Management Accountant - Freight
Location:
Corby, Hybrid.
Our high performing and engaged Finance team supports and challenges its partners to drive value for the Group. We provide excellent decision support, insightful financial reporting, and cost-efficient processes in a sound control environment.
The job holder will be responsible for the pro-active management and control of EMEA Freight costs as well as supporting commercial decisions in markets through providing insightful financial reporting and analysis.
The job holder will act as the main business partner for the onsite and functional teams for all freight finance related matters. A key aspect of this role will be to work alongside the onsite management team to identify areas of opportunity for continued operational efficiency and effectiveness.

- Responsible for cost budget and forecasting process for freight, including creating the forecast, loading into respective reporting tools, building assumptions and reasoning, and liaison with other functions in finance to ensure alignment in numbers.
- Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts. Provide accurate and realistic commentary on performance against agreed criteria, including comprehensive analyses of all risks, understanding root cause for key variances, and driving recommendations to improve performance.
- Produce ad-hoc reports as necessary to enable the communication of financial performance with recommendations and actions.
- Support the finance team in meeting Group submission deadlines
- Ensure appropriate cost performance and productivity metrics are in place and continually reviewed for relevance
- Pro-active analysis and management of key cost areas to ensure that budgets and forecasts are accurate e.g. warehouse labour and overheads.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with relevant functional team colleagues as well as the DC’s and Market’s management and wider teams.
- Recognise and escalate potential risks and issues in a timely manner
- Support the development of a culture of continuous improvement across our teams.
- Engender a mind-set in the team to identify solutions, rather than report problems
- Provide Finance support to projects, programmes or other activities as required
- Link with the wider Finance team to collaborate in specific projects or sharing of best practice

Person Specification
- Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Reporting, forecasting and budgeting experience and decision support capability
- Track record of developing successful relationships with non-finance colleagues
- Has the experience and gravitas to be able to operate with colleagues within the supply chain leadership team and operational teams
- Self-motivated, resilient and enthusiastic
- Strong analytical skills and an ability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial teams
- Good verbal and written communication skills and proficient with Excel, Word & Power-point
Desirable
- Experience with Power BI, SAP and/or Business Objects.
- Working experience in a Logistics Environment
- Prior experience in B2B services.
- Exposure to a digitally enabled business.
