The purpose of the Audit Manager role is to lead and execute the timely delivery of designated audits to the expected high-quality standards and to contribute to providing assurance, insights and credible challenge to the business, thereby helping to protect and maintain the business within the Board set risk appetite.

You'll be responsible for:
  • Support and execute the on time and high-quality delivery of planned audits, assess business area under review, including key business risks and general control environment.
  • Support and execute all aspects of audit engagements, including planning, risk assessment and scoping, fieldwork, reporting and follow up, ensuring compliance with mandated AAL Internal Audit Policy and procedures and International Standards of Internal Auditing. Audit engagements could include assessment of projects, culture and behaviours, and IT.
  • Prepare high quality, value adding, internal audit reports with findings to be presented to senior management and the Chief Audit Executive.
  • Build and maintain high quality relationships with business stakeholders and engage and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to internal audit effectiveness.
  • Support and execute special engagements, as requested by the business or other stakeholders, ensuring objectives are met on a timely basis and value is provided, without impairing audit independence.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Annual Internal Audit Plan and the Five-Year Audit Plan.
  • Share responsibility for achievement of strategic objectives, including team engagement, audit quality and stakeholder engagement.
  • Exercise due professional care and diligence and ensure compliance with local and Group standards, Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) internal audit standards and Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory developments.

Important to your success:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with relevant accreditations (e.g. Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
  • Demonstrated relevant audit experience with exposure to assessment of risks and controls gained in a complex, insurance / financial services or major consulting organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of audit methodology including conducting risk assessments.
  • Clear understanding of the three lines of defence model and of the strategic business context while looking at processes from a strategic point of view.
  • If interested in IT Audit Manager - an understanding and proven experience of the IT landscape and virtual processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact and influence.
