Job Summary
BDO is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support F&A service delivery operations for identified engagements at BDO RISE. The Business Services and Outsourcing (BSO) Assistant Manager is responsible for performing and overseeing the full cycle general accounting function for small to mid- organizations. The successful candidate will multi-task and manage assigned work responsibilities effectively; work efficiently under pressure, meet all deadlines and be a strong team player.

Responsibilities:
• Fully understands the Finance & Accounting functions generally performed by a business (e.g. AP, Cash Apps, GA, FA, A/R, etc.).
• Records and codes Bank and Credit Card transactions.
• Processes Expense reimbursements.
• Processes, records and reconciles US payroll.
• Maintains fixed assets, prepaid and other accounting schedules.
• Records depreciation/amortization expense.
• Reconciles Bank, Credit Card and other Balance Sheet accounts.
• Performs complete general ledger reconciliation including the entire balance sheet and applies accounting knowledge by properly recording transactions in a general ledger:
o Creates accounting records such as bill payments, client invoices, and payroll,
o Identifies and records adjustments,
o Produces accurate financial statements.
• Comprehends common financial statements, and prepares draft financial statements for review:
o Calculates/interprets KPI's for clients,
o Identifies positive and constructive trends, and reports findings to BSO management,
o Understands GAAP and can apply it to basic financial statements.
• Plans basic engagements to include on-boarding and client delivery phases, and develops an understanding of engagement economics (i.e., billing and time entry), and adheres to BSO best practices.
• Conducts basic financial statement analysis and understands the finance and accounting functions generally performed by a business (e.g. sales, purchasing, A/R, etc.), and common best practices/processes for how they operate
• Assists with financial statement preparation and other reporting deliverables.
• Supports audit preparation and tax filing activities.
• Applies BDO's processes, systems, technology, and resources to manage workflow and ensure proper documentation and workpapers
• Reviews work products and collaborates with BSO team members
• Other duties as required.Â
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Management required.
• Professional certifications (CA, ICWA, CMA etc.) a plus
Experience:
• Five (5) or more years of experience performing general accounting transactions and functions required.
• Experience working in an outsourced operations environment required.
Software:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive).
• Proficiency working with pdf documents.
• Demonstrated experience performing Accounting functions in applications such as QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Sage Intacct, Netsuite etc.
Language:
• Excellent English oral and written communication skills required.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• High level of attention to detail required.
• Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details.
• Ability to self-manage work assignments and prioritize work activities.
• Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.
• Ability to work US shift hours (2pm – 11pm IST) & (5pm - 2am IST) if required.
• Ability to work overtime especially during month end.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
