We are looking for an Accounts Receivable - Project Backfill to join our team. This is a fixed term 12 month role for 30 hours per week based at Taranaki Regional Council in Stratford, Taranaki.

Mō te tūnga | About the Role

The key purpose of this role is to provide backfill support to the incumbent whilst they are involved with the implementation of the new finance system. We are looking for an experienced financial professional to be responsible for a range of financial services with a specific focus on leading and completing the accounts receivable and credit control functions. Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, the role also requires continuous development and enhancement of business processes, financial systems and responsibility for job costing functions and reporting. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork required to support and work closely with the rest of the Financial Services team.

You will be someone with demonstrable experience, particularly in accounts receivable and credit control. You will have a meticulous approach to financial matters and an ability to multi-task and operate at both strategic and operational levels. Confidentiality is extremely important and you would be comfortable working autonomously with the goal of being committed to getting the job done. We like to set our people up for success so you'll also be a leading applicant if you have:
  • a relevant qualification (preferably tertiary and/or a professional accounting membership) and experience
  • excellent customer service and communication skills
  • attention to detail and a can-do attitude
  • integrity, honesty and the ability to operate with confidential information
  • excellent technology skills and experience
  • a continuous improvement focus
  • a desire to work as part of a small effective team
  • excellent time management skills and the ability to work extra hours if necessary
