The Role Responsibilities

Standard Chartered Bank is currently accelerating its Digital Transformation agenda and a key part of this transition is an investment into its Financial Markets electronic trading and e-commerce capability. To help deliver on this commitment, we have an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to join our Global Rates and Credit eTrading Development Team that is distributed over London, Bangalore and Singapore.
  • In this role, you will work closely with the team to analyse requirements for Rates & Credit Electronic Trading workflows (pricing, trading, contributions, regulatory reporting, etc) and ensure the smooth delivery software development projects in a timely, controlled and predictable manner using Agile methodology.
  • You'll use your strong interpersonal skills to identify and engage with project stakeholders and then manage ongoing communications to ensure all are kept informed at an appropriate level.
  • As the Business Analyst, you'll be the driving force for end-to-end requirements capture, implementation and rollout to Production users. You will be working closely with the Product Owner(s) to drive the feature backlog in the required priority order.
  • ION MarketView is a key component of our eTrading platform providing pricing and trading integration for D2C and D2D markets. We also have a number of in house developed components which deliver a rich electronic trading platform for Bonds and IRS for the Rates and Credit businesses.

Key Accountabilities
  • Manage the end-to-end requirements analysis of complex system solutions using Agile methodology, establishing and helping to shape project constraints and scope.
  • Manage relationships and communication with all project stakeholders
  • Help to capture a product backlog for all the requirements for the projects they work on
  • Participate in design discussions to ensure implementation aligns with business requirements and use cases
  • Ensure the analysis and requirements capture is done in line with the Agile best practices that the team follows
  • Support the rollout of requirements to Production users and help to ensure feature uptake is successful
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to make improve delivery
  • Participate in testing where required.
  • Coordinate and organise changes with external vendors, markets, ECNs and infrastructure teams
  • Writing documentation, user guides, regular demos
  • Assist with testing when required to ensure systems developed meet requirements.
  • Ability to run projects end to end without monitoring

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Business Analysis
  • Can capture requirements to a good level of detail to cover all scenarios and permutations
  • Can breakdown requirements to support the Agile methodology and produce user stories with acceptance criteria that are easy for development teams to pick up
  • Experienced in the delivery of complex software delivery projects in an agile environment
  • Experienced in JIRA and Confluence tools to facilitate requirements capture

Business & Product Knowledge
  • Experience of working in the eCommerce technology function of an Investment Bank, Financial Services Company or Technology Company.
  • Understanding of pricing and electronic trading for Bonds (Credit and Government) and Interest Rate Swaps. FXOptions experience would be a nice to have.
  • Understanding of different types of business workflows used in fixed income trading and the various nuances of various fixed income electronic trading platforms.
  • Strong experience of ION MarketView components. Detailed knowledge of the functional capabilities and customisation possible for MMI.NET, D2C & D2D Connectivity Gateways, TOMS, PXE, REFDATA, VMO, Run List Manager, PosKeep and PTV.
  • Understanding of post trade workflows and regulatory requirements for eCommerce activity
  • Understanding of the various bodies of regulation that impacts financial markets today

Technical Skills/Knowledge
  • Have data querying skills using tools such as SQL, Excel, Q
  • Understanding of the FIX API protocol would be a strong advantage.
  • Experience of using source control systems, in particular GIT and maven build & packaging would be a strong advantage.

Non-technical Skills
  • Enthusiastic, driven, self-motivated with a focus on client and customer service
  • Very strong interpersonal skills including facilitation, coaching and able to lead and influence others
  • Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders and teasing out the detail required to scope technical solutions.

  • Proven ability to work within a team environment.
  • Highly effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating workshops / discussions.
  • Ability to make good / sound decisions and use independent judgement.
  • Strong reasoning, analytical and inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management.

Role Specific Competencies
  • Strong hands on experience of the ION MarketView product.
  • Knowledge of Fixed Income eTrading environment in Rates and/or Credit businesses
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to effectively interact with business stakeholders.
  • Troubleshooting skills in a complex trading environment including pricing and trade capture issues.
  • Strong Linux experience including shell scripting and python scripting
  • Experience of using source control systems, in particular GIT and maven build & packaging.
