We are seeking a highly strategic Group Commercial Manager to join our team in Newmarket, Auckland. As the Commercial Manager for the group, reporting to our CFO, you will support the business both strategically and operationally by providing commercially sound analysis and advice to the group. You will be accountable for commercial contract review, analysis and negotiation to ensure that all contract and related commercial transactions align with Scott objectives. Working closely with internal stakeholders across the group you will help to shape the commercial focus and vision for Scott.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSBILITIES

  • Commercial Strategy (Projects)
    • Providing advice on a range of matters including (but not limited to) project feasibility, financial structures (including payment, fees, costs, enforcement requirements etc). Reporting and governance frameworks. Risk analysis and management.
    • Works closely with group leadership to develop agree and implement commercial and contractual strategies to meet (and exceed) business goals and objectives. With a view to accelerate growth and profitability.
    • Provide leadership and advise of pricing for commercial contracts.
    • To provide strategic, risk and commercial advice and analysis to the CFO and CEO in support of the negotiation of development agreements.
  • Contract Negotiation, Management & Reporting
    • You will provide direction and support to project and business leaders during the pre-contract stage through to project execution and completion, ensuring that the business complies with contractual obligations as well as state and federal regulations (standards).
    • You will lead the implementation and management of agreements from a commercial perspective; developing key performance measures and ensuring contractual obligations of both parties are met and enforcing the obligations as necessary.
    • You will take the lead in solving commercial issues that may arise, review, and approve all contractual associated commitments within the Group.
  • Risk & Project Management
    • You will be the key groups key contact for our external legal counsel on all commercial and contractual matters.
    • On a project-project basis you will ensure that all commercial risks are identified and that mitigation strategies are understood and implemented.
    • Assisting project and business leaders you will help ensure the management and negotiation of major claims and disputes with subcontractors and clients are managed effectively.
    • You will manage the insurance position for the Group, understanding the various areas and levels of risk, and ensuring we have adequate cover and/or mitigation strategies in place to protect the business.


TO BE A GREAT MATCH FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
  • A tertiary qualification in commerce, finance or accounting.
  • A background in engineering, manufacturing or construction viewed favourably.
  • International/global experience viewed favourably.
  • Extensive experience in reviewing contracts, conducting analysis and reporting.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking and risk management.
  • A proven history of leading by example, providing clear expectations and direction.
  • To be a strong positive relationship manager who can successfully navigate their way through difficult situations.
  • The ability to travel as required for the role.
