Reporting to :Portfolio Audit Manager , the incumbent is responsible for auditing the efficiency and adequacy of financial and operational controls, risk management and governance process within the SABC to ensure that it is in accordance with corporate governance and the PFMA and to inform relevant stakeholders on the state of the control environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCIES
  • Assists in identifying and evaluating the SABC's risk areas and provides input to the development of the annual audit plan.
  • Performs audit procedures, including identifying and assessing risks and controls, developing criteria, reviewing and analysing evidence, and documenting client processes and procedures.
  • Conducts interviews, reviews documents, develops and administers surveys, composes summary memos, and prepares working papers.
  • Examines, evaluates and documents information to support audit results.
  • Documents audit issues and recommendations using independent judgement concerning areas being reviewed.
  • Communicates or assists in communicating the results of audit projects through written reports and oral presentations to management.
  • Conduct follow-up audits to ensure that the recommended corrective measures are implemented by management.
  • Performs adhoc audit work as assigned by the Internal Audit Portfolio Manager or General Manager: Internal Audit.
  • Represents Internal Audit on organizational project teams and at management meetings.


GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE
  • Compliance with the Internal Audit Charter, Code of Ethics and SABC policies and procedures.
  • Plans and conducts audits in compliance with the standards of The Institute of Internal Auditors and departmental procedures to determine the adequacy and efficiency of the control environment.
  • Ensure the protection and confidentiality of information gathered.


LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
  • Allocate tasks and responsibilities to audit team.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to the audit team when conducting audits.
  • Pursues professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and shares information gained with co-workers.


STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
  • Develops and maintains productive client and staff relationships through individual contacts and group meetings.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.


PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION
  • Execute audit projects within the approved time budget and time lines
  • Maintain timesheets.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce /Auditing and/or Accounting or relevant qualification (NQF7)
  • Professional qualification in Internal Auditing such as CIA, CRMA, or at least passed one or more parts of the CIA exam.


EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of four years' experience in Internal Audit of which 1 year should be on Supervisory Level.


KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing and accounting principles and practices, management principles and preferred business practices.
  • Knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Knowledge of management information systems terminology, concepts, and practices.
  • Knowledge of industry program policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation.
  • Team player and mentoring
  • Knowledge of the auditing process i.e. audit engagement, development risk and control matrices (audit programmes executing the audit program, reporting, follow - up action.
  • Knowledge of business process analysis to identify inefficiencies (e.g. structure, workflow analysis, business risks, management control strategies and bottleneck management)
  • Knowledge of quality assurance process pertaining to the internal audit activity to monitor and assess the overall effectiveness of the quality program.
  • Knowledge of the IIA (International Internal Audit) standards and its Quality Assurance processes and requirements.
  • Knowledge of risk - based planning methodology used by internal auditing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in applying control frameworks such as COSO and COBIT
  • Ability to benchmark
