Our Client in the Financial Services and Insurance sector requires a Junior Bookkeeper for their branch in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha. This is a client centric servicing position, whose primary function is to provide quality service to clients, the Company, and the Group. The bookkeeper must provide high quality and professional services daily and to identify cross selling opportunities within the existing client base between the group of Companies. The successful incumbent should be capable of all start-to-end accounting functions, bookkeeping to trial balance and audit preparation for new and existing clients.

General Duties:
To service the start-to-end accounting functions for new and existing clients
  • To maintain and build a courteous and beneficial relationship with all customers.
  • To promote the image of the business at all times through means of a positive customer contact.
  • Bookkeeping to Trial Balance
  • Preparation of Annual Financial Statements would be advantageous
  • Pastel / Quickbooks Accounting skills must be excellent
  • Thorough working experience on Excel
  • Payroll processing
  • TAX and VAT calculations, returns and submissions for individuals and juristic entities
  • Various legislative submissions such as EMP201, VAT201, etc
  • Maintain and file all client documents
  • Other related ad-hoc and administrative functions
Minimum Requirements:
  • Matric Certificate
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification would be advantageous
  • Proficiency in Afrikaans is non-negotiable
  • Proficiency in Pastel Online or Quickbooks Accounting Software
  • Proficiency in Payroll Software Advantageous
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • At least 1 years' experience with SARS e-filing and compliance
  • 1 - 3 years' accounting/bookkeeping experience
  • Experience with VAT, EMP201's, EMP501's etc.
  • Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems, such as filing and proper record keeping
  • Clear credit and criminal record
  • Flexibility and availability to work over weekends and after hours when required.
  • Fully Vaccinated (Covid-19)
