As an Accounts Assistant, you will contribute to the smooth running of the day-to-day activities of the Finance team. Apart from taking care of office administration, you will handle basic accounting and analytical tasks.

You will take ownership of the college’s general, purchase and sales ledgers and assist with month-end
processes. You will also deal directly with and provide 1st line support to internal and external stakeholders such as budget holders, other colleges, universities, schools, employers and government agencies.

Accounts Assistant Requirements:

Essential

Ability to work as part of a team and take direction accurately.
Extremely organised in a manner that is easily read by others.
Trustworthy and discreet when dealing with confidential information.
GCSE English Grade C/5 and maths Grade B/6
Pursuing (or be prepared to pursue) a professional qualification such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
Minimum of one year’s prior experience in a similar role
Good knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to use Microsoft Excel proficiently including advanced skills (e.g. vlookup, sumif, countif, and creating and manipulating pivot tables).
Works towards a high level of accuracy.
Demonstrates excellent analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills with the confidence to deal with staff at different levels.
Be thorough and have an eye for detail.
Be able to work unsupervised and to their own initiative.
Act in accordance with College ethos and values. An understanding of ‘safeguarding’ and its importance within the College.An understanding of Equality and Diversity and its importance at the College.

Desirable

Can identify functional, operational or compliance issues and proactively suggest solutions to mitigate these.
Have an inquisitive mind capable of identifying opportunities to improve processes.
Be confident to tactfully and professionally challenge the status quo.

Safeguarding and Promoting Welfare of Children

All work in the College involves some degree of responsibility for safeguarding children, although the extent of that responsibility will vary according to the nature of the post. The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post holder must be aware of the College’s policies which safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and adhere to their guidelines. DBS will be required for all roles at the college.

Salary:
£20,312 to £26,359 per annum
