Our client, a large federal government agency, is looking for a Senior Finance Officer and you will be working with a great team. There is also a lot of potential for progression in your career and for a contract extension.
Your new Role
The Senior Finance Officer is primarily accountable, under limited direction, for undertaking
moderate to complex finance related activities and tasks within established procedures and
guidelines. They will work in a small team, responsible for ensuring effective management of the organisation's financial operations and delivering a wide range of finance business services in an accurate and timely manner.
The Senior Finance Officer will foster collaborative relationships with internal and external
stakeholders and liaise with them on a range of matters. They will provide professional and
objective advice and support on a range of often competing matters, exercising both initiative and sound judgement to solve complex problems or select an appropriate course of action.
The Senior Finance Officer will work collaboratively in a small team and contribute to team planning, continuous improvement, and decision-making. They will effectively identify, analyse, and manage risk and issues regarding their work, and exercise judgement that is appropriate for their position.

About You
They are looking for someone with strong leadership skills who has experience with motivating and developing staff. You will also demonstrate knowledge in the commonwealth financial frameworks, budgeting, financial management and external budget, policy and processes. Experience with TechnologyOne is also desirable.

Your new Role

Responsibilities
- Providing expert financial assistance and advice on the reporting of budgets/forecasts to the Chief Financial Officer and the different business areas within the organisation.
- Development and ongoing management of costings, internal and external budgeting and
forecasting processes.
- Manage the processes for preparing monthly, quarterly and other management reports,
variance analyses and related commentaries.
- Assist as back-up to the organisation's accounts receivable, accounts payable and treasury functions.
- Using the Central Budget Management System (CBMS), for reporting and transacting purposes such as monthly and annual actuals, budgets and forecast reporting for the Department of Finance.
- Prepare and deliver accurate periodic and ad-hoc financial reports and provide timely and strategic financial advice on policy and corporate matters to the CFO and senior management as required.
- Liaise with representatives from the Department of Finance, Department of Education, MoU parties, external stakeholders, and other Commonwealth agencies to identify and help resolve critical issues, develop and maintain professional and collaborative relationships, identify best practice, and ensure access to information
- Assist with the implementation of business process improvements for the team and contribute to the achievement of team outcomes as identified in the Business Plan.
- Assist with the development of internal communication tools (forms, guides etc.) on financial processes, the Financial Procedures manual, and other policies as required.
- Other duties as required.
