MADI Talent Studio is representing John Laing, a global infrastructure organisation in their search for a Head of Finance - Australia. This regional role is suited to an individual who sits at the Financial Controller level and is looking to elevate to the next stage in their career.

About the Role
As Head of Finance - Australia you will be the most senior member of the Finance team in the region, and as such will be a trusted partner and advisor to Regional Heads on all finance matters with an international tax overlay. You will support senior stakeholders and play a general management role, supporting the function, providing financial management on certain project companies, and taking ownership of the overall financial activities in the region. There is currently a consultant in the role, which will enable a full handover and transition support into the position. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to make their own mark, create their team and be autonomous at a regional level.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Leadership - Financial leadership role in region, being the subject-matter expert and the link to Global finance teams in addition to ownership of the full financial management of the APAC finance and compliance function.
  • Corporate - oversight and management of end-to-end accounting activities, forecasting & budgeting, OPEX & cost reducing recommendations, cashflow forecasting, tax compliance & advice and locally procured insurance programs.
  • Compliance - act in the capacity of Company Secretary and nominated Tax Officer (Public Officer) for various entities.
  • Project Finance - be a trusted advisor for Investment and Asset Management teams with management/oversight of accounting, tax and company Secretarial deliverables for held Assets.
About You
You will have operated at a senior finance level with ideally 8-10 years' work experience across similar industry sectors such as construction, infrastructure, projects, banking, or engineering, however this is not a prerequisite. PPP experience would be highly desired but again, is not a prerequisite. You will be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding and experience of local financial reporting framework and relevant accounting standards, applied across both statutory and management reporting. You will have hands-on experience of cash flow and cost management, budgeting and risk management and an excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models. You will have a full picture of accounting experience with different group/entities exposure and experience of using a finance/accounting system with solid analytical work and decision making. You will be degree qualified in Business or Commerce majoring in Accounting and you will be CA/CPA qualified.
