About the role:

Reporting to the Management Accountant, the purpose of this role is to support the preparation and delivery of the monthly management accounts whilst ensuring a high level of accuracy.

The role is based in Avonmouth, with hybrid working offered.

What you'll be doing:
  • Calculate, post and reconcile month end accruals, prepayments, and other journals in line with relevant schedules
  • Support the month end close process, performing tasks in line with the month end close timetable
  • Assist the preparation of detailed Monthly Management Accounts, ensuring any variations to budgets and forecasts are explained in detail, including any future/potential exposures to the business
  • Support and play an active role in the monthly management account review
  • Create departmental P&L reports and share with relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare a range of balance sheet (BS) account reconciliations
  • Ensure the completeness of BS reconciliations for all Harding companies and that preparers & approvers are submitting on time
  • Raise internal (intercompany) and external invoices (B2B, capex, rebates, staff sales etc.)
  • Review capex requests against policy and obtain approvals in line with company delegated authority
  • Manage and maintain the Fixed Asset Register with the assistance of team members
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ensure process documentation & procedure guides are up to date
  • Assist other members of the finance team on an ad hoc basis, including where there are requirements as a result of sickness and holidays in the team
  • Support the Management Accountant & Financial Controller with ad hoc tasks when required

About you:
  • Previous experience working in an Assistant Management Accountant/Finance Assistant role
  • Working towards an accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise effectively to ensure deadlines are met
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of using ERP software within a medium sized business
  • A pragmatic approach to tasks and a logical mindset
  • Takes pride in own work and a desire to constantly learn
  • Experience in working effectively as part of a team
  • Must have an existing right of eligibility to work in the UK
