The Company

My client a private company owned by a high net worth individual who has a core business operation which is high profile but continues to expand into many broad business opportunities in a typical entrepreneurial spirited way. The business has significant presence in NZ and is well regarded. This entity is its own separate legal entity and has its own operations in the hospitality space. The business markets itself in the upper market space and is well regarded.

The Role

The role of Finance Manager will report directly to the General Manager. You will have the support of a Group finance team when required (which is in another entity), but this role is all encompassing for this business. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements, including full commentary and analysis for management
  • Be an active member of the SLT
  • Attend Board meetings and advise thereon
  • Business partner department heads to ensure optimal business performance
  • Advise on opportunities through analysis and understanding key performance metrics
  • Ensure all financial regulations are met
  • Budgeting & forecasting
  • Cashflow management
  • Management of a team of 2 direct staff
  • Ensure payroll is correctly accounted and analyse costs as required
  • Ensure internal controls, policies & procedures are optimally maintained.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.


Skills & Experience

To be considered for this role, my client is looking for someone who has had the experience managing a finance team and being in the head of department role. You will need to have the following attributes:
  • Degree of professional qualification in Accounting
  • In depth knowledge of hospitality industry experience
  • A proven ability to business partner and be analytically focused.
  • A hands on approach where you roll up the sleeves
  • An ability to work independently.


Culture & Benefits

My client is a business where customer service is key. The individual needs to be able to work in the office 5 days per week but a flexible culture exists (as opposed to hybrid). A carpark is provided as well as health insurance and some other smaller benefits.
