Your new company
Our client is a well-established, growing business with a presence in the manufacturing, distribution and maintenance market of the building and construction sector. As a business going through change and growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Your new role
This position is a highly visible position where you would be responsible for managing all the financial controls for two businesses that have a combined turnover of £35m. Managing three direct reports and a team of seven in total, you would be responsible for supporting and driving transactional finance and delivering financial reporting and planning to the group. Responsibilities would include:

  • Management of credit Management, cash collection and debt recovery and the accounts payable maintenance including supplier payments, cash management, FX processes and currency purchase, payment authorisation
  • Weekly sales reporting to the Group
  • Monthly management accounts
  • Full month end accounting process including reviews, reconciliations, identification, and analysis of variances to budget/forecast.
  • Production of full scope annual budget including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow.
  • Production of quarterly forecast updates.
  • Stock Accounting, PI/Annual Audit, obsolescence reviews.
  • Internal KPI and management reporting to management team including analysis of key cost and balance sheet areas.
  • Completion of Statutory Accounts information, VAT Returns, Intrastat, P11D, PSA and Corporation Tax submissions. (December year-end)
  • Ensure that Group policies and procedures are followed.
  • Update KPI reports and dashboards using MS Dynamics, Power BI or other tools to ensure any new reporting requirements can be accommodated.
  • Work closely with the Finance Director on job costing and project costing
  • Assist the Finance Director, Managing Director, and Commercial team with commercial matters such as contracts & agreements, and ad hoc costing.
  • Assist with ongoing integration of the businesses financial reporting into the Group framework of reporting and control.


What you'll need to succeed
Fully qualified and with a demonstrable background managing a team and driving financial controls, it is key that you have recent experience covering technical and commercial finance. Confident on regulatory matters, it would also be highly advantageous if you have had experience in finance change management. The ideal person will be confident, collaborative, and sensitive, with a good eye for detail and a supportive nature. Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution would also be beneficial.

What you'll get in return
This will be a fixed term contract for 12 months. Salary is negotiable based on experience and will include up to 5% employer pension contribution (to match employee contribution %), 25 days holiday - 3 days reserved for Christmas shutdown but negotiable depending on year end requirements. They are also offering either full time in the office, or hybrid working pattern, with the ability to work up to two days a week remotely.
