Tax Consultant / Assistant Manager (VAT)

A great opportunity has arisen for someone who is looking to advance their career within VAT Consultancy. My client is looking for either a Tax Consultant or Tax Assistant Manager to join them, to provide advice to clients, Partners and team members on matters of indirect taxation.

This role is within their small, but growing VAT Consultancy team. This team of four specialists provide support to a wide range of clients, including corporate businesses, charities and individuals dealing with different rates and rules of VAT. This busy team provide their clients with expert advice on a variety of issues including the VAT liability of income, VAT deduction and partial exemption, property transactions, business acquisitions and the place of supply. The team also advise on HMRC dispute resolution including appeals to the Tax Tribunal.

Key aspects of the role include:

Preparing, reviewing and submitting complex VAT returns and annual adjustments.
Attending VAT visits as required.
Advising on liability queries, property issues, structuring and VAT recovery methods and processes.
Identifying potential sources of work from existing and potential clients.
Acting as a main point of contact for clients and the team members with queries.
Preparing reasonable quotes for large projects, monitor WIP and bill as appropriate.
Keeping up to date with taxation standards and developments and attaining the requisite number of CPD each year.
Contributing to team publications and seminars.

You are the right person for the role if you have:

Strong academics
CTA and/or AIIT part qualified, qualified or qualified by experience
The ability to think proactively in terms of marketing and technical client development
The ability to clearly explain complex issues to colleagues, clients and HM Revenue & Customs, both verbally and in writing
A positive and practical attitude
