Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading and growing Construction Services business to recruit for a dynamic and hands-on Company Accountant based in Hereford, Herefordshire. A permanent and varied finance opportunity due to company growth where you will take full control of all accounting processes for the organisation reporting into the Company Directors. The position will offer variety and scope to progress along with being involved in key process improvement projects as the business grows furthers. This permanent Accountant role will be tailored around the right candidate.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve production of monthly management accounts, profit and loss along with balance sheet processes. You will maintain financial controls, produce accruals, prepayments, and upload journals. Cost/income analysis including transaction reports, trial balance and month-end analysis, reconciliations and resolve any accounting discrepancies. You will process cashbook transactions, bank reconciliations, administration/reconciliation of petty cash, credit control, sales ledger processes along with purchase ledger processing. You will support budget/forecasting preparation, process CIS and VAT returns, along with supporting process/system improvement and implementation. The position offers full autonomy and will be tailored around the right finance professional, an opportunity to really add value to a growing SME that are part of a group.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on and varied Company Accountant role you will need experience within a similar position, experience of preparing management accounts and strong communication skills to build both internal/external relationships. You will be used to managing workloads to meet time-constraint deadlines, strong eye for detail/accuracy and a pro-active team player. You will be keen to improve processes/systems, be comfortable with financial systems and have a good level of MS Excel skill. Experience within the construction sector, Sage and Xero financial packages would be advantageous but not essential.
